Hello does anyone know if you make the modification mentioned in the user manual page 85 to transmit 50 watts instead of 100 watts affect the other transmit powers like the S-LOW 1 watt and LOW 10 watts.?

I checked the Alinco website and the PDF Owners Manual and I could not find anything about the 100 W to 50 W modification affecting the 10 w or 1 w RF Power Output Levels. There is a modification that you could do by installing a small toggle switch in the back of the transceiver and install wires between the two Printed Circuit Foils & the small toggle switch so you would be able to switch between 50 W and 100 W if you wanted too. Therefore having 100 W, 50 W, 10 W & 1 W RF Power Output.

There are 2 pads on the underside of the chassis. According to the manual, soldering them together gives 50 watts out instead of 100 watts out. I haven't tried it on mine. So I don't know if it affects Low and S-Low transmitt power out.

I have had problems being heard at 10 watts, and not, with the same contact, at 100 watts; however, I have a 1/4 wave vertical without the wire radials in place. So I don't know what affect 50 watts will have on QSOs and being heard for long distances.
