    Default Buffer for IC 7300

Can an IC 7300 connect to an Ameritron AL 80B without a buffer or it wise to have one connected for protection. The buffer I am referring is a ARB 704 and I believe this is called a relay buffer made by Ameritron.

What kind of "buffer" are you talking about? Do you mean a tuner?

The IC-7300 manual doesn't show anything needed other than the three cables. The ALC cable is optional, but does help provide overdrive protection. As long as the amplifier has a 50 Ohm input, you shouldn't need a tuner in between the IC-7300 and the amplifier. Depending on your antenna system, you might need a tuner between the amplifier and the antenna.
