    Smile 40 Meter receiver

I'm looking for a 40 meter "direct conversion" receiver. Nothing crystal controlled, with 7.0 to 7.3 Mc coverage. (That's Mhz today, I think, LOL)
I had to strip out a Ramsey HR-40 that I built in the 70's or 80's and I'd like to retain the dialing system it had. I could go digital on the tuning, but I just don't want to.
I'd prefer it to be a kit, but would be satisfied with a complete rcvr that I could transplant into my old case. Any questions or suggestions without sending to China or Russia?

Just do a web search for "40 meter direct conversion receiver kit", you'll get loads of links to kits and project pages.

I found a site with the schematic.

Also found the mixer IC online for under 6 dollars.

Blank circuit boards are dirt cheap too. I usually use acrylic fingernail paint for etch resist and apply it with a toothpick. If you dont have any CuCl or persulfate etchant, equal parts household vinegar and 3% hydrogen peroxide with some table salt works great!

The 602AN was common in galaxy CB radios. You might have everything in your junk box!
EDIT: Mouser has the SA602AD for $2.88 in stock. I've read its the same thing with a better temp range.
and here is the pdf with the board layout Attachment 1066
