I have recently purchased a used Hustler 6BTV antenna and am looking to install a reinforced bottom tube in order to hopefully minimise any wind damage. I have a suitable aluminium tube which I can slide over the existing bottom tube but I am unsure of the required length needed. I would like to cut the tube so that it supports as much of the bottom tube as possible but looking at the DX Engineering reinforced tube it appears to be quite a bit shorter than I would wish.

I have a 12m add-on which fits below the 10m trap so the tube will need to be short enough to accomodate this. If I make the outer tube longer than the DX Engineering one, would this alter the tuning ? If lengthening the outer tube affects the tuning can anyone with the genuine DX Engineering reinforced tube advise on the correct length ?

Many thanks for your help.
