    Default Mast lightening question

On my list for the weekend was to erect my 20 foot steel mast. It will go from ground up and be attached at my eve for stability. Last night we had a thunderstorm with lots of lightning very close to the house which has me second-guessing this mast. It was to be connected to the eve with a metal bracket. Is this a potential House fire starter in case of lightning? Would it be better to secure it with wood instead of metal? Of course I will have an 8 foot ground rod driver next to it.

metal, wood, it doesn't matter, if it get hit, then the house will probably suffer. Make sure the mast is well earthed though.
