Default Options other than yaesu FT-60r for 2M/70CM and 800 MHz

I am 2 weeks into my amateur radio setup, just passed my test last week. I started with a Baofeng UV-5R and really getting the hang of things. I want to be able to receive in 800 MHz though as my local emergency and rescue transmit in 800mhz. I was looking at ththe Yaesu FT-60r and it looks like it will give me 2m/70cm plus option for listening to the local 800mhz trunk stations.

Question - are there any other options I should be considering that might be newer technology? Thanks for any input.

If you want to get into digital voice, then look at Yaesu's series of System Fusion radios. A lot of them are dual band and some even have built-in GPS units and APRS modems. I have one of the early FT1DR handhelds and I still haven't used all the features available in it.
