    Thumbs up Band Conditions

When would be the best times, day or night, to work these bands, 15, 30 and 40? Been out of hamming for 25 years and trying to get back on the code with my tri-bander.
    TIA,
    Charlie

    Hello Charlie,

It's going to be better maybe in 4 or 5 decades as we're headed into a Marauder's Minimum. Using 15 m is a bit sketchy with the current conditions so I would say to try using it during the day. 30 m would be better during the day and for 40 m it's better at Night but still can be used during the day. If you follow the Sun Spot numbers, I've seen when there's NO Sun Spots at all and the bands are crummy. The new standard is 40 m, 80 m and 160 m ... and with the 630 m band being activated for the ham radio community, I would imagine that 630 m would be good to use, Just don't try operating mobile.

Many thanks, Dan. Gives me something to consider. All I worked for 25 years was 40 cw except for a lil am in 62.
