Thread: FT757 ATU

    Default FT757 ATU

Not being aufait with my FT757 and its ATU and yes I have read the manuals, I don't seem to get a SWR reading when the SWR button is pushed in on the ATU and the PTT button is depressed on the mic.
Is there some thing obvious I have missed out for checking the SWR on my newly built aerial?

I'm guessing you're in SSB mode when doing this. Try going to CW mode (with a key plugged in the proper jack) and press it. Should be an indication of power out. SSB has no power out until you speak into the mike.

A key is nothing but a single-pole, single-throw switch, a connector as specified by the radio manual, and wire to connect them. Possibilities are endless.

Try using AM or FM for a mode, if you have HF voice privileges. I'd suggest using a dummy load instead of your actual antenna (which you didn't specify: what kind of antenna are you using?).
