    Default stuck on a technical question

    Struggling with this question - I'm missing something obvious I'm sure...Can anyone assist ?

    If full volume is taken as a 10k resistor to ground, and zero volume as a short, then 1% of full volume is 0.1k.

    This, however, is assuming linearity, whereas sound is logarithmic.

    Yup - concur with that. Bit of a silly question though, because in practice it won't work very well at all!

    thanks for having a go at it chaps....nice to know its not just me

    The question comes from the advanced sample questions in the Exam secrets book.

    The answer given in the book is 1.1 K ohm
