Thread: Blue line in DX MAP

  1. #1

Default Blue line in DX MAP

In the DX MAP* there is a blue line that pretty much follows the equator from West Africa to a big island chain in the Pacific, but thru the rest of the world, it droops down.
What is it supposed to be illustrating?

Not sure what it's showing. I just looked at the site and the blue line I see is continuous (no "drooping down" that I can see). I didn't check every band -- maybe it has something to do with VHF?

    Have a look here http://www.dxmaps.com/spots/faq.html
Your blue line question and answer
    Q) What is the blue line that appears across the world maps?

    A) It is the geomagnetic equator. An interesting reference for north-south and TEP propagation.

As the earth spins it infact has a slow wobble, that is why we have winter and summer as the earth tilts slightly on its axis here in the northern hemisphere.
And that is why the Geomagnetic equator is shown depending where you are in the world.

Of course I could be completely wrong and trying to pull the wool over your eyes? ;-)

I think the man drawig the blue line had his arm knocked when he was drawing and didn't dare tell his boss.
