Since you're a Technician Class Operator, that narrowed your question down.

    Here's a YAESU 2 m transceiver http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010078

    Here's a Kenwood 2 m transceiver http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-011362

    Here's an ICOM 2 m transceiver http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-011362

You'll need to choose the radio brand as I don't own any one of these transceivers.

The Yaesu FT-7900R, a 2 meter/440 dual band mobile transceiver, takes up only two inches of vertical space when in its mounting bracket. If you plan to use any of the mobile radios in a home installation, then you will need an external power supply. Also, keep in mind that when mounting any radio, you need to have sufficient space around it for air circulation (for cooling.) The Yaesu FT-2900 linked in the above post is notorious for overheating problems when run at full power.

You mean a pocket or portable radio? You can find some of them in ebay.
