Is this a radio controlled FPV application (video) using 915 MHz? Or is this an actual full size aircraft?
Kenwood's web site has a download for using the Kenwood control software and it covers interfacing with a pc. It's not much but maybe it'll help.
I believe a license is not required for using FRS channels. There may be other restrictions and perhaps other forum members might have something to say about them.
Thanks Brandon, and yes, sometimes things haven't been done right!
Neutral would never be used for case grounding - that's what the third wire is for. GFCI's would be localized to the individual apartment's outlets. It's the apartment complex circuit breakers that...
There are other types of grounding situations where it wouldn't be the right way to go, you're right. But the ground wire on a three prong plug is for case grounding which is what you're looking for....
"I live on the 10th floor of a high-rise and have nothing to attach it to. No incoming water pipe (all pvc), no A/C copper lines, and if I understand this correctly, I can't use the ground in a 120v...
Yeah, the guy just asked a simple question! Lol!
No need - I'm sure you're correct and I can see the math on that. Thanks.
OK! I'm a lucky guy!
b-lind - actually my story did change in that I realized what I was doing with my Yaesu's internal tuner didn't make any sense. But the real question in the op was do I need to tune again with a band...
Just to be perfectly clear I never use the internal tuner. I sold my FT-450D and now have a TS-590SG I bought new in August since I don't think I will ever be able to buy the SDR that I really want!...
That's good - but in the article Dr. Purdum explains that dummy loads should be used when tuning on a band. When changing to a different band, tune to the dummy load. That way you don't affect other...
Just a follow up note to this thread. The cover article in last month's QST was about building a dummy load. I found it interesting near the end where the author explains its use.
Wow - 53 years. Nice!
I got on 40 meters last night and there was a contest going on. I never heard such a thing. It was interesting to listen to. The whole band was lit up. It sounded like a California-based contest....
Well finally yesterday I actually did make my first contact on D-Star.
You're correct in that it's an either/or connection illustration on page 71. USB is the slick way to go and you already have the driver and DigiPan. You're set!
I think I've set this up properly - it seems to be responding properly. I heard two guys talking one time but have not noticed any other activity. Do people still use D-Star?
The cool thing about this hobby is that although there is an initial expense there's no on-going expenses involved, assuming the right equipment is bought to begin with : )
Obed would probably...
Well, I wasn't insinuating that you are one. Sorry if I gave you that impression.
Anyway, getting into amateur radio might meet your objectives. But it's complicated by wanting a mobile set up. A...
You will learn a lot by going through the licensing process. You might want to save your questions until then as they will probably change. And, you're not supposed to do anything with the equipment...
Paul - we've all been around long enough to know that this would be like buying a cheap 40 year old car in order to have reliable transportation. Probably not a good idea. To buy it as a project to...
Well, I guess that would be a no.
Has anyone used this Kenwood software?
