Just purchased orion 2 it does not have and internal antenna tuners. Called TT and they arent stocking them right now ??? I was wondering what auto tuner is being used out there or are there any. Any auto tuners with cable arrangements to use the tuner button on radio to auto tune ? Thanks

The first unit I thought about is the LDG Auto Tuners but you must really give this Auto Tuner issue some thought as to what you want to do in your future ham radio station. This is whether you ONLY think you'll ever operate 100 W PEP RF Output or will there be a want or desire for a 600 W PEP RF Amplifier or even a 1 Kilowatt PEP RF Amplifier? LDG has several different RF Power Output Levels that they sell for the Amateur Radio Market.

http://www.ldgelectronics.com/index.php The higher the RF handling capability, the more expensive the Auto Tuners become so keep this in mind.

Palstar Products http://www.palstar.com/en/hf-auto-r/

SGC Products have been around for a long time http://www.sgcworld.com/productInfoPage.html

Elecraft 500 W Auto Tuner http://www.elecraft.com/KAT500/kat500.html

MFJ Products, I have one of these & I use it with Drake TR-7, requires 10~20 RF Drive for the unit to Auto Tune.

Most of the units can be purchased through Authorized Amateur Radio Dealers Except for the Elecraft Product (Factory Only).

QUOTE: "Just purchased Orion II it does not have and internal antenna tuners. Called TT and they aren't stocking them right now ???" I found your statement interesting as this transceiver was Cancelled in June, 2013, almost two years ago. I hardly know of ANY manufacture that Stocks Obsolete Products and Ten-Tec has been bought out twice in the last year. Many of their former products went away on the first Buy Out.

I do have a LDG AT100Pro2 and a Z-11 Pro2 and I hook them up and press tune button on front of radio and nothing. Is there a setting in the radio I am missing ? And I have turned up power to 50 watts and still nothing. These tuners were hooked up to a Icom 7410. I was told by ten tec that they should sense rf and tune but nothing ?

After I did a little more research on the LDG Auto Tuners, I discovered that LDG made a custom Auto Tuner for Orion & Orion II transceivers which was a Model # OT-11P but it's been discontinued too. Perhaps you should contact LDG Products directly and quiz their Product Service Group what modifications would be required on either of your LDG Tuners to work with your Orion II. Interesting that the OT-11P actually installed into the Orion II but I would think there's got to be a method to modify one of your two tuner so your transceiver and antenna tuner would be compatible. http://www.ldgelectronics.com/c/252/products/7/11/1

Sent my radio into Ten Tec and some how cable 13 was unplugged and also my CPU battery was almost dead. So 265.00 later I am getting my radio back with RF output, so external ATU should work now !
