syd started a thread where to sell in The Junk Box
Besides Amazon and Ebay, are there any sites where one could go to sell something like a QRPLabs, working VFO/Signal Generator? syd/wt1v

Looks like people are (or were) finding them on ebay - this might be a good excuse to fit some nice amber LED's instead. Calculate the resistor value you'll need here.

I searched for DIY SWR meter and found these 2 that should be able to be adapted to what you want to do: Simple SWR Meter Circuit - Reflectometer » Electronics Notes (electronics-notes.com) Microsoft Word - Constructing a precision SWR meter.doc (parc.org.za)

(where can I find a suitable circuit diagram of a swr meter suitable for 100w) Is it possible to modify a qrp circuit for for 100W? I am a member of Sprat so have lots of QRP diagrams.

I purchased some data leads for my Yaesu 450D some time ago, mic, speaker and usb plugs other end goes to data plug on back of rig. No idea of the manufacturer..in the middle of the leads is a very small box. Not sure if this contains interface or soundcard I can receive FT8. Can not transmit. Tried lots of different settings. Not able to make vox work. Surfed all the articles about 450d users setting up FT8. No settings advised seem to work, Occasionally I get a error message when wrong combination appears to have been entered. Please advise. Thanks

Looking to build a SWR meter suitable for 100w HF. Needs to be used for constant monitoring with doublet. Looked everywhere. Seen plenty of QRP examples. Any suggestions where I should look? Thanks in advance

FRS? Only you mentioned that. Newcomers have been successfully turned away for a long time on this forum. Also, lots of people read your comment. Can't really undo that.

essbee, i deleted my comments with the thought my listed reason for deleting would remain ~ it did not. If peoples feelings are more important here than being honest and motivating people to respect this hobby instead of turning it into the FRS, that's fine. I am on the wrong forum.

I'd go for a multi-tap multi-band mobile antenna and not use the ATU much, if at all. I don't have a particular model in mind, but I haven't been happy with my screwdriver antenna. The other comments are very condescending. That's why I've been absent for so long.

Just you what? Am only looking for tips/suggestions on what others have used mobile and found to be of best suitability to their scenario(s) - considering I've never used ATU before.

Hi all, just got a Xiegu G90 and planning to run it mobile eventually. Anyone have any recommendations on best antenna (type or brand) to use mobile? PLease bear n mind that this radio has an inbuilt ATU that I would like to take benefit of, but I am not able to mount a screwdriver like the Yeasu ATAS, so some sort of multi-band (whip) is obviously best. Thanks in advance for the good bad & ugly suggestions :-) 73s & stay safe all Malcolm F4VRX

One of the images is close, they start at low frequency and increases. Saw one yesterday that moved back and forth before heading up the band.

Google "tweeks chirps whistlers chorus", perhaps even go directly to the images section. Do any of those signals look the same as the one you are searching for?

Many things can generate this kind of signal. Electronic equipment "warming up" Like you said, the activity of meteorites ionising the atmosphere FRB's (fast radio bursts) from millions of lightyears away Our own aurora(s) possibly even volcanic activity deep within the Earth, the list goes on Yes, they are a fascinating subject, which we still know very little about...

I got a IC-7300 a few weeks ago and really like it. I have a question about something I have observed on the band scope. I have been receiving HF frequencies for about 30 years, like many of you I have always heard that occasional noise of a chirp/high pitch for a fraction of a second. Now that I have my first real time spectrum display I can see the signal coming moving left to right leaving a tail behind it ! What is causing this noise ? Could it be meteorite’s ?

Nice video. I tried measuring the SWR of my HT antennas with a VNA but ran into trouble as well. My first attempt was to screw the antenna right on a nanoVNA. Even bringing my hand close to the VNA made significant changes. Then, I tried a ground plane like you mentioned and still had strange results. The shape of the ground plane made the results change so much I assumed there was no way it was a representation of what the HT will see. What would be nice is if someone had a broken HT and gut it and put a coax connector on the bottom with a ferrite bead on the coax so that the common mode currents wouldn't affect the results and the antennas could be evaluated in their natural environment. I think those antennas are roughly tuned with the expectation of a weakly coupled radio case to the hand. It would also be interesting to see the radiation patterns as I believe some of those handheld antennas, particularly the short linear loaded ones, have broader more uniform pattern extending above horizontal such that...
