Hello all,
I'm evaluating how accurate is the internal SWR meter from my FT 990 that is the same of FT 1000,
So, I procede the test with my own antenna and include the measurement from a dyamond cross needle SWR meter and MFJ-259 antenna analyzer as well,
the readings follows :
(MHZ) ____ FT-990____Dyamond___ MFJ-259
7,000 _____1,7:1_____ 2,5:1_______ 2,5:1
14,000 _____ 1:1 _____ 1:5 _______ 1:6
21,000 _____1,1:1_____ 2:1 _______ 2:1
28,000 _____ 1:1 _____ 1:1 _______ 1,2:1
28,500 _____1:1 _____ 1,7:1 ______ 1,5:1
Does the FT-990 has a trouble on the swr meter ? the service manual does not help on this matter
I understand the actuation of the tuner but those measurements were taken with the tuner deactivated, so I was expecting to read values that are pretty closed to the same on all instruments ( F990 , Dyamond and MJF analyzer )
The difference in 20m and 15m are about 1,5:1 to 2 :1 far from the dyamond and MFJ measurements
That's why I'm in doubt related to the FT 990 swr malfunction, even with the tuner deactivated does it may affect the reading on this much ?
P.S. all measurements was taken with the internal tuner in off position.
Please if some one have seen this or is an owner of FT-990 / FT-1000 yaesu radios and may replicate these tests I would appreciate to receive comments and ideas.
Thanks in advance.
