    Default DJ-180 Audio

My DJ-180 has very low audio. I last used the HT several months ago and it was good then. But now with the squelch all the way down you must hold the speaker next to your ear to hear any signal. You can hear the volume going up as you turn the volume up...but the loudest is very faint. With an external speaker the volume is only noticeably a little better. The unit may not be worth a factory repair bill. Just hoping someone may have a similar problem with a fairly simple solution.

For your info, the DJ-180 service manual is here http://inrd.gotdns.com/alinco/man_sch_dj180.pdf

If an answer isn't forthcoming here, there is a dedicated Alinco group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alinco_all

Sounds like the AF amp, theoretically easy enough to whip out and plonk a new one in, however, SMD is not my favourite pastime.

Open up the radio and look for a leaking electrolytic capacitor before you get serious with it...
