and of course using ham radio's on 11 meters if it's all good to go...

Can't say I agree its due to these radios, the FM on 10m is mostly Russian taxis and simply down to poor regulation.

I suspect they've been there for ages, it's only because conditions are good now that we're hearing them. It's nothing to do with new equipment appearing on the market.

Simon (the guy who's video you have linked to) is a licensed amateur who lives in Germany and happens to operate on 11m (allegedly ), as well as the 10m & 12m amateur band. As far as I can tell, he doesn't 'pirate' on the 10/12m bands. He just likes playing with the latest radios.

The vast majority of (illegal) 11m operators keep well away from operating (illegally) on the amateur 10 or 12m bands. Most illegal 11m operators move on to amateur radio once they realise the horrendous limitations of just operating solely on 11m.

Ps. CB is getting 4W FM, 4W AM, and 12W PEP SSB in the UK and the rest of Europe on the 40 CEPT (same as the American FCC 40) channels in the VERY near future.

Pps. That Albrecht AE5890 is a European (UK) legal FM/AM/SSB CB radio.

    Enjoy.

i know simon the wizzart, but using a yaesu on the 11 meters is illegal no matter how many licenses you have and or being a uk bloke.

that albrecht radio showed on the video is also fully illegal as it's being hacked to operate from 12 - 10 meters. the only way to use this radio legally in this hacked version is to use it in some country who doesn't have radio rules (export mode) or not as tx.

the whole point of me showing this is that even with licenses we should keep us on the rules as otherwise what's the use of sitting an exam to get our licenses.

but may be i'm wrong and will shut my mouth from now on.

Not sure its illegal, suspect the emissions and specs of the Yaesu radio is greater than some of the CB radios on the market.. CB in the UK has been deregulated and people for years have used ham radio gear on 11m.

I've not read anywhere that its illegal to convert a CB radio for use on 10-12m, Clearly for a foundation license these radios need to be type approved which most of the ones from the shops are.

the point is that in a couple eu countries including my home country it's illegal to own (even if you don't use it) a radio without a license. clearly owning a modified albrecht in 'export mode' will give you problems with the authorities if not having a licence (like cb guys). so driving your car with that radio in 'export mode' into some european countries is illegal with the risk of losing the radio and having to attend at the court. this is different here in the uk where you can have a room full of radio kit without a license telling the officer; 'oh officer i'm only listening to the bands'.

also in the amateur license agreement you will find that operating (tx) a amateur radio outside the approved amateur bands will be illegal. in the cept cb regulations you will find that the use of non approved cb radio's (ham gear) on the cept cb frequencies will be illegal.

now this simon is clearly using a modified (wideband) yaesu ft-857 on non approved cept cb frequencies 27.490mhz so he is even double illegal according the telephone law. highest cept cb frequency is 27.405mhz

now let's make it clear that i'm not against cb radio but i cannot see the reason of using illegal radio's and frequencies while you can sit a foundation exam for the price of a couple pints.

The Western world is falling into a financial ruin that will probably last generations. Caused by selfish bankers playing a corrupt system for all it's worth. People are actually starving to death in Africa because selfish politicians and businessmen would prefer to buy guns and nice houses for themselves and their friends, than feed their own people. Drug lords profit from the suffering of others. The Middle East is in a state of near anarchy ... and you are worrying about someone using radio equipment in a 'non type approved' manner, but who is not actually causing any harm to anyone?

No harm, no foul. Point to some evidence of him causing harm or even just inconvenience to others and I'll get all worked up over it. Until then, who cares. There are way more important things to get all worked up about.

    Dude, it's just a hobby.
