Hi. I have an early model of the Realistic DX-160 Communications Receiver that has a bad audio amp circuit. Specifically the chip. Read about how I arrived at this diagnosis in this thread:

I have read the later models had a much improved audio amp and I am considering using that. At first I thought about building my own design from scratch but I think there are some bandpass filters in the DX-160 amp circuit that would be necessary and I'm not sure how I would incorporate them in a circuit using a single channel op amp like an LM386. Here's an image of the amp circuit in the later models:

Now I'm thinking all those caps and resistors to the left of the IC are bandpass circuits to prevent screwing with the audible frequencies. Given my poor knowledge of electronics I will not be offended at all by condescending replies. On the contrary, I am humbly open to all suggestions or comments. Thanks in advance.
