    Default Echo Link Question

Each time I try and access a repeater via Echolink from my radio I get the message either Access Denied or Not Available, so I must be getting somewhere.
I am right in thinking that I can/should get which ever I dial up direct from the radio?
If I need to go via my PC forget it that's not radio!!
    Thanks in advance.

i assume you did register with echolink and got your node number?

identify by call sign as you would normally when connecting to the repeater
link by sending the node number, this should give you a message from the repeater like welcome tio echolink bla bla bla

    unlink by sending 73

    some basic node numbers;
    *9999 echolink test
    *2605 ireland conference
    *1938 gb3bn bracknell
    *383403 gb3ns banstead

    good luck

"i assume you did register with echolink and got your node number?"
Nope, didn't see that on the website unless I read it wrong it just made reference to connecting via PC.
So if I get this number from echolink how will that make a difference?

"identify by call sign as you would normally when connecting to the repeater
link by sending the node number, this should give you a message from the repeater like welcome tio echolink bla bla bla"
    unlink by sending 73"
Yep got bla bla bla bit then got either Access Denied or Not Available.

When you are using your radio to connect (via RF) to another persons repeater or simplex Echolink node, you don't need to register with Echolink. You only need to register if you wish to setup your own Echolink simplex node (or Echolink enabled repeater) or if you want to connect to the Echolink network via your PC (no RF at your end). They want to see your licence to confirm you are legally entitled to TX out of other peoples RF enabled nodes/repeaters basically.

When you use your radio to send DTMF strings to an Echolink enabled repeater (or simplex node), you may sometimes get refused connections. It's unusual, but not unheard of. Some Echolink enabled repeaters, nodes, or even conferences have limited numbers of available connections and you can just get refused when you try to connect.

You often find this happens when you try to connect directly to a repeater from your home PC. Lots of repeater keepers don't like PC users connecting up to the repeater because of the load it places on the Echolink network. It's less common when you connect via RF though.

Try some other nodes to connect to. The ones Biton suggested are a good place to start.

In fact, why not try: 265297

This is the node number for the simplex Echolink node MB7IDA, which comes out on 144.8375 in Chelmsford, Essex.

I'll stick my 2m radio on 144.8375 and listen out for you.

I've made a note of the Chelmsford number might give it a try at the weekend while I'm away.
Seems I'm doing it right, funny enough one I tried was Bracknell as I have friends there!!
I won't give up so you should hear me soon, well maybe after the weekend!
    Thank You Both.
