To be honest, I don't think you will be missing much.all in all i will never touch any thing from moonraker again...
hi,
last night i got the moonraker hv-6 6 meter 1/2 wave vertical for a donation from our radio amateur club.
this brand new sealed antenna stood in a corner for a long time so i took it home.
while unpacking and building this antenna i was wondering about any instructions but could not find any, bear in mind this antenna was fully sealed brand new never used.
so i put it on my pole in the garden i have for testing antennas but where to start as the top sections can move about 1.5 meters.
also the label tells me that there is some kind of coil in it... (this antenna has been specially designed with a dc grounded coil so no radials required). this make it may be more difficult to tune?
google cannot tell me anything as moonraker now has the "HV-658 DC GROUNDED 6 METRE 5/8 BASE ANTENNA"
so lets call moonraker for help.
can you help me with the hv-6 6 meter antenna; reply i don't know what you are talking about
when i tell them well you build them; reply go back to the seller you bought it from
when i tell them there is no instruction manual in it; reply so now you want us to send you the instruction manual?
when i tell them no not really i only like to have roughly the measurements of the top section, reply just move it up and down till you got it right goodbye
all in all i will never touch any thing from moonraker again...

Don't get me started with that bunch of cowboys. I won't buy anything from them.
Think everyones had problems with most companies in ham radio, I'd have expected that sort of response from most of them regarding an old product!

well i own a sandpiper v9 5+3 and have excellent support / contact with chris from sandpiper.
he's very friendly and really knows his products always open for discussions and advise so i will buy more antennas from them.
that moonraker i got for a tenner as club donation, so i didn't spend too much money on them
I suspect Moonraker buy in a lot of their antenna's and repackage them, so depending upon it's age may have no information to hand. They do build some, as the first time I visited them I walked in through the back door into their workshop, it was stacked out with machinery and aluminium.
I must admit their comments weren't helpful. They could have said simply sorry, we now have no information on this older product. If it has an adjustable section, try using an antenna analyser to resonate the antenna. I did this with the 80, 40 and 20M mobile antenna's I bought from them, they too had an adjustable top section. Not everyone has an analyser, but most clubs do for members to borrow.

our club instructor does has a 259b i can borrow indeed, but for me it was the attitude on the phone what did put me off.
