    Congratulations Ray.

You consistently hear of potential radio amateurs who can't find a local course. A lot depends upon what clubs are local and what courses they offer. I've noted quite a few only offer foundation and intermediate, no wonder there's a low take up of the advanced full licence. In other instances club web sites are out of date. Good to hear you found a club to take you through to the exam.

    Well done Ray.
I took mine on a Sunday and call was ready for collection by about 1600 on Wednesday on the Ofcom website.

I actually asked round a lot of clubs within an hours drive of my home area of Halifax..but due to the time restraints of when i was back in the UK no one wanted to take me on all I wanted was a weekend course..over a couple of weekends M0 OCT in Chesterfield were more that happy to oblige and we did the course over 2 saturdays..granted it was quite compacted but at the end of the day both of us passed which was the object of the exercise..As you say a lot of clubs say people aren't coming into the hobby..with some of the attitudes i encountered whilst looking for a course I'm not surprised..One club wantaed a years subscription up front before they would even consider me for training..I won't name them but if they read this..well !!
When i got the training sorted at M0 OCT I actually offered to join their club but was told I didn'nt have to result I thought..Still I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to Steve and Martin for their training..very good instruction and two very good and friendly instructors
