kenwood tk 759 on 2mtrs
hi all,
i bought this set from a rally already programmed up for 2mtrs at a good price, however having got it home, i found that it had no transmit audio.
tx power and frequency are fine, and receive is spot on, sensitive with good clear audio so the only prob is no tx audio.
mic and wiring seem fine so wondering if anyone has got or has access to any service info on this radio which i would like to use mobile.
i would be especially interested in anyone who has access to a service manual for this model TK 759(E)
thanks for reading.......

The old saying is I am here and you are there.
There is no way for me to diagnose your problem over the internet.
First guess is that your antenna is connected improperly - but then again, it probably wouldn't receive if the antenna was connected improperly.
Second guess, there is something wrong with the coax - hence if you have a high SWR, the radio could be cutting back the power.
How do you know it has good TX power?
Did you check it with a SWR or Bird type meter?
Next - if Rally means swap meet - then the problem probably is that it was burned up and now you bought a junk radio that does not work.
Rule of thumb when buying anything used - caveat emptor, let the buyer beware.
There is a very good chance that you thought you were getting a good deal, and in fact you were being took.
That was where two fools met.
Next time get the call sign of the person that sold it to you and if it does not work, make them give you back your money.
Paying with a personal check is usually a good idea in cases like that.
You can always put a stop payment on the check if they do not give the money back.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I know the set is ok apart from TX audio as i have access to a marconi 2955 test set.
I didn't suspect a problem from the seller as he had a box full of these which had come out of service and he had re-programmed for 2mtrs, I assume he checked that they had clone channels ok but he did not fully test before selling at the rally / swap meet and unfortunatly, I have not seen him since.
Luckily, the radio was not expensive and I do like a challenge so I thought I would try to sort this myself, just need some service info.
As I said, the only problem seems to be lack of mod/dev all other functions, rx, tx power, even ctcss tones work fine...is that a clue? seems like a prob with mic pre-amp or that area somewhere, any thoughts?
thanks again for the reply.
