It's probably your callsign not having privileges, although, in the U.K., one could use it on a class "B" license (back in the day)...
So, Echolink works for me. Every single IRLP link/reflector I see listed in Echolink, will not allow me to connect. I connect, get a message "the node you are calling is connected to node number 9070" (Want to listen to the Alaska Net), and after that message, I get disconnected. Happens pretty much any IRLP reflector/link/conference I try.
I also get a lot of "your node is not allowed to connect to this node"

I know that some repeaters and even some simplex Echolink enabled links have elected to refuse connections directly from PC users. It's not universal, but some repeater keepers don't like too many remote PC connections as it bungs up their internet connection and ties up the link for when people want to link repeaters or conferences together.
Yeah. It just seems that most things I try to connect to in the way of links/reflectors/repeaters, just kicks me out. Finally got a headset for my PC, so I might try using it for real, rather then just lurking and listening.
