    Default Help with batteries.

    Hi there,

Im new, this is my first post so please be gentle

Im looking for some batteries for a Kenwood TH-25E. Its an ancient 2m handheld. The charger has Model-BC-9 written on it. I have browsed the net but cant find a battery to suit. Can anyone suggest what i can do?

    1987's not that old!

Found this on Google, I would go for the AA pack, then you can change the cells for alkaline batteries if you cannot charge it anywhere.

Rebuilding a battery pack isn't really hard, you may disfigure the casing opening it, but that's not usually an issue if you have a leather external case etc...

EBAY has them too, around $10, Personally, I'd rebuild the pack (by swapping the cells) with industrial capacity cells for longest life. More mAh = more time.

One simple solution is to use the battery pack for a model car.
You can buy spare battery packs with quick charge chargers for less then half the price of one battery pack for a handheld radio.

One that I saw at a local shack night was put in a fanny pack and had the wire running to the handheld and it actually worked real well.
