    Default Computer PSU for Radio

    Hi All,
If I can find one, would a computer power supply be any good for a 22w tranceiver using 13.8v dc and drawing about 8w
There are sometimes odd one ones on the Freecycle sites and they come with built in fans etc.
What are the forum gurus thoughts?

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and this post made me think of it.

Computer PSUs can be horrible nasty things though, I can't stress the words be careful enough.

    Hi G6NHU,
I looked at the link and it made me think is it worth the trouble. I also looked at other PC PSU mods for 13.8v and as you say they look nasty things to work on.
Thanks for the reply I think I will look for a proper PSU for radio use.
