Hello all. I'm a noob with some classic noob questions. I do a lot of off roading and camping trips away from home. Id like to be able to speak with my family during these trips. Or more like..I'd like my family to reach me. I'm not to interested in speaking to people all over the world or keeping in touch with others around town.
What band would I need to be on to accomplish this. I will, usually, not be more than 400 miles from home. So I would, basically, like to have a 400 mile two way radio.
Any advise for me on the band or gear I need? Can I go handheld to hand held, mobile to handheld or mobile to mobile?
I did search the forums but i couldn't find much that applies to me.
