There isn't any one formula that covers all that you need to know for your amateur extra license.

The most basic formula is Ohm's Law.

In order to understand each question - you need to take and do some research - why this is a question and why the answer is what it is.

The questions are on the test to teach you something.
There is only one math question - and if you get all the other questions right - then you can miss the one math question. 50 - 1 - 98%

Sadly the brilliant BRATS full licence section has gone ... there's bits and pieces viewable via google cache, but it's not much help. I think there was some internal squabbling over the info and webpages, and that was it's demise.

this pdf isn't too bad for help in using a scientific calculator for the various tasks in the exam.

It's as good as I can find.

I think over the next few months, I'll try to add some more Questions to Hamtests with a slant on the Maths side.

If anyone has any pointers or good tips, post here & the Hamtests team will try to add them.

Had a look earlier, and can think from the ideas the Maths Primer offers can certainly add more Questions. Will bring my iPad to work later in week so can start on this.

BRATS had an excellent tutorial on using a specific Casio calculator, the fx-83MS, that was discontinued. After buying the nearest current Casio calculator and finding it so different, I actually bought the old model off eBay to match the tutorial. I had a print out of all the BRATS stuff, but it went in the recycling bin after I passed the April advanced exam. I would have kept it if I knew it was to be withdrawn.
