    Default Newbie Radio

Does anyone have suggestions for a newbie radio who wants to get on the air and listen to local and European traffic from the US?

I FEEL BAD When I happen upon a requests such as this - and that remain ignored.
There is nothing more important than the aeriel. If you are cramped for space, happy just receiving and can follow craft instructions try this link

Then go to Antennas - Receiving or Stealth and look for Magnetic Loop. I've heard that they can produce good results, my own experiences are limited because of much local RF Interference. Otherwise search for an antenna that suits space and pocket. For a rig, I wouldn't splash out lots, look for something you can move around and take on trips. I can vouch for Sony and similar shortwave receivers, second hand ICF-2001 and especially ICF-2001D can be a good buy. Otherwise see reviews on 'World Radios' and for Ham Bands you will need Upper and/or Lower Sideband
