Green Question
Like Kermit said, "It's hard to be green". I wondered if someone might help me get started in the right direction. I'm looking for a ham/SSB set-up similar to what you might put in a boat. the primary function will be casual station listening. the secondary function would be receiving weather maps, and other related information using a computer and a receiver combo. I have a good line on a Icom R75, but I can't figure out if I can use software to control that device? Can this receiver be used with SDR programs, like winradio?? I can't find that answer anywhere. And to be more clear, should I be looking for a SDR-specific receiver for my needs, or should I be looking for a more traditional desktop? I'm just a bit lost! My application is remote camping - not maritime. And I don't think I need to be able to transmit - just receive some good world band-type radio and a solid SSB receiver with the ability to interface with a computer. Any suggestions on how to focus my research???
Many thanks.
