One of the things I've noticed with some of the lesser-used digimodes is just that - they're lesser-used. With some of them I think it's just a case of them not having a 'critical mass' of users, so to speak - nobody gives it a try because no one else is using it.
So, bearing that in mind, would anybody be up for an 'activity night', or such? It could be once a week, or once a month, or whatever. The idea is we'd pick a mode to use for that evening, and try and kick a bit of life into some of the lesser-used modes :-)
Thoughts?

I'm not currently set up to operate data and it might be some time before i am. However once i am set up i will happily join in a weekly activity night.
My online log: http://m6rik.blogspot.com/ the home of M6RIK.
I'd be up for some of that! with the provision it is on 24MHz (I could rig up a magnetic loop for 14-29MHz) Hellschreiber anyone?
Best time for me is in the evening, after 5 GMT, plus all weekend.
We can use the WebChat feature to organise frequency/time etc...
How is the propagation on 24 recently?
Always up for a bit of Hell! not had a qso in that in a couple of years (M3PHP logbook!) I'd say 40m one evening for inter-g + europe with the provision of 14MHz also.
Can we avoid Tuesdays clashes with Radio club & UKAC Contests ;-)
Sounds good for a "Meeting" point!
Prop this last few days on HF was been the dogs mostly due to the sun becoming active but conditions will no doubt pickup!

My Suggestions, would be pick a Mode, and a night.
Use chat room to move about bands & find different places to operate and suggest other stations to work.
Could people reply with some modes to try and I would propose Sunday Evening, say after 6pm, but basically have a window so people can come & go for when is convenient.
What do you think?
My Modes:- JT-65
All good stuff - I agree with avoiding Tuesday's (club night here, too). I think Paul's suggestion of Sunday 6pm onwards is a good one - say up until midnight?
Hellschreiber would be interesting to kick off with, and JT65 will work nicely with the higher noise levels on 40m...
What about this coming Sunday, with Hellschreiber? 80m/40m for inter-G, 20m for longer distance?
I like the idea of this and although I like JT65 a lot, it's hardly a good mode for nattering on. I'd like to try some of the lesser used modes.
OK to get things going... shall we declare this Sunday night a Odd data mode night? question is what mode? :P

Contestia 8/250
Just because I've never heard of it and I found it in the fldigi menu.

Contestia 8/250? Count me in!
Peter, 2E0SQL - http://www.m3php.com
This is tonight so what time, frequency?
I'm out at the moment, but I'll be one from about 8ish.
That was fun, Contestia 8/250 is a slow mode but I like the way it sounds. Three QSOs, first with Pete and then I worked DL1GAJ, Joachim and OZ1PMX, Peter. All were very strong real 599 signals here.
Worked a few more Keith, but also enjoyed it in the end worked
40m: G6NHU, M0VKG, OZ1PMX, DL3HBT
80m: M0MJH, DL5SWB
Loved the error correction no sending info twice! and nice that some others decided to change mode and work me..
What mode next week?
Peter, 2E0SQL - http://www.m3php.com
Three in the log for me, even though I was late to the party and couldn't do 80m because I was busy braying my tuner...
I worked Pete (2E0SQL), DL3HBT and DL1GAJ. Keith (G6NHU) was readable, but every time I checked to see if he was calling CQ he was working someone :-)
Much fun, nice to see it got a few others involved! Now... next Sunday? ;-)
