Thumbs up GB4SLB Selsey Lifeboat 150th Anniversary

A Special Event Station GB4SLB is being run on June 4th and 5th, to mark the 150th anniversary of Selsey Lifeboat Station.

It is being run by Pete M6PAP and Peter G4LKW with other members of the Worthing & District Amateur Radio Club helping as well.

Main band should be 40mts that's what we are aiming for dependant on conditions over the 48 hours, we aim to get as much air time as possible.

There is special QSL card for the station.
    Details on QRZ.Com

Thank you Richard, look forward to your call if you got HF.
Bet there are some longer serving hams saying an M6 organising an event - Oh dear what ever next!!
I have helped Peter on a number of events through the past year so when I came up with this one he had no problem helping me.
For those that don't know you need a full licence to be able to get an NoV for a special event call sign, but don't let that stop you you must know someone with a full licence!!

Sunday a lifeboat same as the first one at Selsey is being drawn through the town by heavy horses to a position on the Lifeboat Green, next to the boat house which is open to the public on Sunday.

I've sent text to Pete 2E0SQL to promote this to the new homepage. Might get bit more interest then.

    What you like at shouting?

For anyone on VHF/UHF we have a 100 watt rig FM only or if I use mine we can have 50w SSB but working vertical only.
It's also open day at the boat house should anyone be in the area, and would like to look around.

GB1OOD (Golf Bravo One Oscar Oscar Delta) on 7133 at the moment

Derby Wireless Club was formed in 1911 making 2011 our centenary year. The club has existed continuously over 100 years without a break even during the war. As such, we think we are one of the oldest if not the oldest local club in the world.

Yes he had just turned up but I had an ear on you!!
When I left at 2240 local time they were working 58 in to a VK on 40m.
Sadly there are deaf stations with power so three times today we had to move as we couldn't work with the QRM!!
We have no Internet down there so can't keep you updated, Sorry.
Still a day to go so keep looking, and thanks for your support!!

Thanks to all for your support even if you couldn't get us, we had loads of contacts in Europe and the far flung parts of the UK but the middle of the country was a bit elusive.
2m & 70cms was a waste of time even D Star was quiet on the odd occasion it was tried!
High points were VK7 2137 UTC with a 59 and as the guys on site were woken up by the fishermen going out at silly o'clock first call of the day Sunday VY2 at 0425 UTC also 59 both worked on 40m .
Rig was Icom 756 pro 3, 100w in to a W3DZZ up at 45 feet, 2m/70cms was another Icom 50w in to a dual band collinear at 45ft.
Just over 300 contacts overall including some rag chewing so not a bad weekend, apart from the static on Sunday!!
