Default Standard exam in 4 weeks...Yikes!! (Do I know nothing or what???)

Holy cow!! It's been 36 years since I have been exposed to any electronics and I decided that I wanted to remove the restrictions from my Foundation (Australian beginner class) license.

    Am I crazy?

Being a type II diabetic with depression, extremely bad eyesight and absolutely no confidence, I took one look at the difference between Foundation and Standard syllabus and nearly ran for my life.

Whew!! It's better now though. Been going through a set of example exams, drills and regulations and found that I am doing far better studying on my own than when I am in the classroom passing out from boredom while the "lecturer" (not educator) drones the exact same things at me.

I used to teach far better at technical college (TA.F.E) and computer groups years ago than these blokes (sheesh!!)

Okay, enough whinging. I think even my tiny brain might have a chance and I am getting up to speed. Woohooo!!!

Antennas, antennas, antennas!! (Pant, dribble, lust, did I mention "pant"???). Dying to get on 40, 80, 10 and anything I can get to one of these days.

I suspect the quality of training courses vary, and trainers. There are also very knowledgeable amateurs involved in training who might not be good communicators, and visa versa. If your Australian training courses are like ours in the UK, the trainers give up their free time in preparing students for the exams and most aren't professionals in education. Look at the syllabus and take as many example exams as you can to probe for your weaker points, then study those areas. If you are being given home work and are struggling with some subjects, query these at the next class.

One advantage of classes compared to home study is you should cover the whole syllabus before the exam, and with studying at home you might not be so disciplined and could leave everything to the last minute.

Even if you aren't confident prior to the exam, still take it. If you were to fail, you will have a better idea where your weaknesses lie and can address them before taking the exam again. Hopefully you will pass, be positive.

Good luck with your studies, persevere and you will succeed.
