Default Foundation exam tonight - wish me luck.

Well its been a long time coming after having problems motivating the club i joined to put on an exam and after six months with no joy at all and moving to another club who were happy to help me. Tonight is the night i sit the foundation exam. I have been practising on hamtests for ages and am scoring 23 - 25 each time so hopefully i will pass with a comfortuble margin, however i will settle for any score as long as it is a pass.

    Wish me luck!

Thanks everyone. I am very pleased to say that i have passed the exam. I got 22 out of 25. But hey, a pass is a pass. I should have a callsign and be on the air by this time next week!

    Thumbs up well done

    very well done!

if the club send the papers off tomorrow to rsgb you might have your callsign on wednesday / thursday.

just create an account on the ofcom web site and check if you can apply for your foundation licence.

Yes i have a philips FM1000 on 2M, a Yaesu VX7R for 2m, 70cm and 6m. The antenna i have is an x50 colinear. I will be looking to buy a HF rig in the coming months but what i have should be enough to get me started.

Well done....its great to see some-one taking the legal route to our great hobby. There are so many interesting aspects to it today compared to when I was first licenced. (OK I'm grumpy ol' bugger!) Today, Richard, you can explore all the various modes of digital..... Most of these only need low power so no need to worry if you dont have 100 watts yet. I use only 20w to a 30 feet lw which is at 15 feet over the ground and get all over the world using various digital modes. (I live in restricted accommodation....and no it's not a prison...)
BTW when you come across any muppets on 2m remember that they do not represent the hobby.... (same goes for 80M as well) There are many ol' timers who will help you.

I have just checked the ofcom website and now have a callsign. I wanted my initials but they were not availiable. So opted for M6RIK and it was issued to me. Mike Six Romeo India Kilo. I'm very happy.
