Years ago there was a project called Youth into Electronics through Amateur Radio (from memory it may have been sponsored by the RSGB).
Its a common theme on how various bands are quiet, despite it relatively easy to get on air nowadays, with training courses and examinations being provided by local clubs which in some-ways is good although it can be difficult to find an advanced course because they are few and far between.
But is Amateur radio in the UK missing a trick? There are plenty of schools that have technology status, why are there no schools GX/MX clubs? Answer probably is that you would need a full licence holder to be involved, ok you can get a teacher trained up to be a full licence holder if there is willing. Wouldn't it be good if UK Amateur radio clubs adopted and nurtured Amateur radio in Schools?
