So right now I am using my HT VX-7R as my main unit in my vehicle and I really want something that gives out more power and so I don't have to take in and charge and what not.
So I was wondering if I could get everyones thoughts on the FT-8800R. Would it be worth my $$$ to get and add to my vehicle.
Thanks!!

I had one several years ago and I loved it. Worked very well for me. I sold it because I sold the vehicle that I had it in and a radio just would not work in my replacement vehicle. So I had no need for it. Thinking of getting another one now to use as a base unit. Will have to wait until spring though, not good weather for installing an antenna right now.
I own 2 FT-8800's and 3 FT-7800's.
Go with the FT-7800 for mobile use. It has backlit buttons which really help in a mobile
I own an FT-8800E (European version) and I would echo KJ4IDH's sentiments. It's a brilliant full feature dual bander with cross band repeat, probably the best bang for your buck ... but ... it has no back lighting for the buttons and the buttons and dual control dials are fiddly to operate when mobile. The FT-7800R/E (FT-7900R/E) is probably the better real world 2m/70cm mobile.
