Icom Cat programming cable

I've finally got an Icom Cat programming cable from Hong Kong and I've tested it to work with Ham Radio Deluxe and BK_Cat beta but don't actually know what to do with it.

What's the best software that I can use with it to program up my IC-706MKIIG and is there anything else I can do with this cable, such as decode digital traffic, receive files etc?

For my money Ham Radio Deluxe is the best. Not sure how much CAT control is available for the 706. Go on the HRD forum and do a search. There is a whole section dedicated to Icom Radios...

Had a play with HRD, looks nice. It seems to be more of an interface than a programing tool.

Seen something called BK-Cat control that is specific to programming the rig but too tired to work it out yet.

Looks as if I also need a bit of electronics between the speaker output and my pc's sound card to have more fun. (Groan, more money I haven't got)
