    Default Issues with IC-02AT

I recently dug out an old Icom IC-02AT HT that I used back in college. I was actually able to charge the BP8 battery pack and power on the radio with it. It appears most of the functionality works correctly, but for some reason, the radio doesn't seem to let me set the TX frequency offset at all (Function - 7). I wouldn't be surprised if the backup battery in the unit is shot, but would be surprised if that's the cause of this issue. The radio seems to have saved all the frequencies (and offsets) that I had stored in it the last time I used it back in the '80s.

After a little googling, it looks like my particular radio requires me to do some disassembly in order to access the microprocessor reset switch, which I haven't done. Does anyone have any suggestions one what might wrong?

you might want to try reverse , to see if you can receive input, if you have another radio it is helpful. also may be your battery pack is so bad that it can not handle the current of transmitting. you might want to try if it transmit with simplex OK. I have rebuild many of ICOM battery pack made for IC-02 , most of them have enough space I was able to put 6 AA cell plastic battery holder, also I used stainless steel flux to solder wire to normal AA cell to rebuild them sometime. I have some pictures when I rebuild some old ICOM battery pack on my web site
