Antenna Mast Footing
I have a telescoping antenna mast I would like to put into service. The first / lower section is about 4.5 inches diameter and 20' long. There is a winch with a steel cable that raises the middle section. The middle section is keyed into the lower section to eliminate rotation. There is a tube at the top of the middle section where I can insert a smaller tube that would hold the actual antenna.
I’ve done a fair amount of research but have come up short on information regarding what to do for a footing to hold this antenna mast in place. Overall finished height will be around 48 feet. What I’m thinking of doing is pouring a slab / block of concrete with a tube imbedded into it that has a large enough inside diameter for the lower section of the mast to fit into. Does anyone have any experience setting up something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We (the Whitton club) put up a 60' tower, we had a 2m cube of concrete for the base into clay ground.
Might be worth finding a stainless steel tube for the lower section if you plan to remove the base frequently.
