Choke coil....necassary?
I have put up an HF vertical with a 8 turn choke coil at about 10 inches in diameter.I want to move the antenna higher so I need to utilize as much of the coax as possible so I don't have to buy more.My question is....can I get rid of the coil or make it less turns and a smaller diameter???? If this is ok then I can reclaim some coax and it will be long enough. The antenna I am using is a SRC X80.

I think the choke is only really useful on the lower bands (80m) - you can try removing it, but I think you'll cause more interference that way...
