Carrier on the frequency
I have a TS-2000 and just now starting satellite work. I have noticed on 436.795 and 436.800 I have a strong S9 carrier or something and even stronger on level on 436.800. If I switch from FM to SSB then I just get a tone as I tune near the frequencies.
Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks
Tom

If you disconnect the aerial is the carrier still there? If it goes when you unplug the aerial then it's being received off air. Turn the beam and see if it's coming from a specific direction.

Try connecting a dummy load, if the noise is still there it's either the set, the P.S.U. or a mixer artifact called a "birdie" (which the manufacturer can only apologise for).
