6m Whip or Folded Halo Dipole?
I have bought a 6m only radio. It is multi mode and puts out up to 90 watts.I will be running it at a maximum of 50 watts. My dilemma is what antenna to use as I will be using it as a homebase. It's not the cost involved but the performance. What I want to know is what is better.A 6m whip antenna on a ground plane or a 6m folded halo dipole( http://www.moonraker.eu/Amateur-Radi...DIPOLE-ANTENNA )? I will mount either the same which will be on a pole on the side of the house at about 20 feet.Any advice/help will be appreciated.
Thank you.....

The vertical probably has a higher radiation angle, but the halo might have more gain, depending on the vertical.
Solution:- put the vertical on top of the pole, with the dipole beneath. A remote masthead switch connecting them both and you can have the best of both worlds
(I don't think Halo's have that much gain - exchange it for a small Yagi & rotator)
