APRS Tracker for a novice

Ok so I am trying to get involved in aprs. What is a good starter tracker that I can use in my truck 75% of the time and on our boat 25% of the time. I will be using a kenwood tmv71a for voice on one side and aprs on the other side. I have been looking at the opentracker+ as I think it can be used with my garmin handheld or a serial GPS like the ones for sale with the open tracker. I was also wondering what the open tracker ad means when it says "The OT1+ added waypoint output capability."

Finally where is a good place to find information on aprs and how to setup and use aprs? I have been looking around but cant seem to find much about how to use it.

See if you can find "WinPack" and then "AGW Packet Engine", you can make an simple interface for about $5 and get on the air, provided you have a computer with two COM ports - read the docs! they explain everything in detail...

Just wrapped up a two-part APRS discussion on The Practical Amateur Radio Podcast. I discussed my old APRS setup and my new one. I also have three videos on the subject of APRS. Ok so I think I have narrowed it down to either the tiny track 4 or the OpenTracker+. Does anyone know if both of these devices can also do aprs text messaging when connected to a computer? I know the tiny track can but what about the open tracker? Also does the open tracker support KISS TNC fully or only partially.
