    Hello Derek,

    I've got to inquire whether you ordered the PNP-7D Interface Cable Kit with your ARB-704 Universal Interface Box?

    for the FL2100Z you will need a cable from the relay in the back of the Kenwood;

    Hi John,

    What you've informed Derek to do is not quite correct when using the newer solid state transceivers. This is why Derek ordered the Ameritron AR-704 Interface Box and I hope the PNP-7D Interface Cable Kit. I also hope he has the Kenwood TS-2000 Owners Manual. The newer solid state transceivers can not handle the higher voltages / current levels that the older / legacy RF Amplifiers utilize and provide back to the transceivers. The ARB-704 has two (2) interface cable ports, one for the amplifier's T/R Relay and the second interface cable port for the amplifier's ALC voltage.

    On the opposite side of this Interface Cable Box there should be two (2) more connectors for the other two (2) Interface Cables that connect to the TS-2000 transceiver. One of these Interface Cables connects between the back of the transceiver supplying the +13.8 VDC & Ground to the ARB-704 Imterface Box and the second interface cable (most likely uses Mini-DIN Connectors on both ends of this cable) that plugs into the back of the TS-2000 transceiver and the opposite end inserts into the ARB-704 Interface Box which supplies the Plus (+) or Minus (-) PTT Keying / T/R Function, Lower ALC voltage & Grounds. The Interface Box performs a transitional voltage / current levels between the newer transceiver and the older legacy RF Anplifier and that's how it connects together!

    John, I believe you can understand what I have written / provided to Derek but what gets me frustrated is the originator of this post and many other people, that do not acknowledge what you and I are providing to them free-of-charge so they can properly connect and use their equipment! And "if" this individual still does not understand the terminology, there's no way that I'm going to pack a suitcase to travel to England just to become a free Elmer for these new people. Your local Amateur Radio Clubs are not providing or stressing the importance of local Amateur Radio help besides the use of a Forum.
