    Default New digital mode

    Hi all,

Now, you can tester a new digital mode for Ham Radio Operators that uses military techniques:

Please, keep me informed of the results and ask me what you need.

    Hallo Jose,

I have installed the program and 5 minutes later have made the first contact from PJ2/DF7DQ to EA1GIH.

Seems to work phantastic. Will try to make more contacts from PJ2 (Curacao) in this new mode.

    suerte y un abrazo fuerte.....

    Hi Peter,

Excellent that you've tried it, I'll have to download it this weekend and get it installed and give it a whirl, keep us posted on how you get on.

Located in Hope, RI. USA. FN41fr. I have ROS software up and running and have been tuning around several frequencies listening/looking for other ROS users. Have found no one.

I will try this for a few days hoping to find others doing the same. At night (my night time) I will be on the lower bands and daytime I will be on the higher bands.

I would strongly suggest to the authors of this software and anyone else using it to consider using only in USB mode as that is what all the other digital softwares are doing, for compatibility reasons.

Another suggestion would be on the 40 meteres band, here in the US 7.053 is NOT a good frequency of choice as it is occupied already by several CW groups and there will be conflicts.

I would suggest something around 7.100 near the AX25 packet frequencies, or perhaps near 7070 Khz where the PSK31 and other digital operators are. Another good location would be near 7035 Khz as this is also where PSK31 and other digital operators are listening/working.

I would also loo for a place to operate in the 30 metere band as this band is open for long periods worldwide.

Hope to print someone soon.... ..

    Very 73 from FN41fr.

Hot news: ROS digital mode illegal in USA

"Breaking news from ARRL. They concur that ROS is a spread spectrum mode and as such is not allowed by the FCC on bands below 222 MHz."

I have mixed feelings for the mode as well. I did install and check it out on day one. Then all the questions started popping up about whether it was truly legal. I enjoy PSK31, RTTY and of course SSB and at this time will just focus my time in those areas.

More info released today. Looks like the info posted on the ROS website a few days ago, stating the mode was afterall legal, is bogus. According to the lastest info posted on the ARRL website. ROS still not legal in the US below 222MHz.

This sounds more like a soap opera then a ham radio mode.

    Default Hello

First a big thank you to Jose Alberto for the new mode.

I installed it a couple of weeks ago and have already made a few QSO's.

I have one question though, I do have the HRD and Digital Master installed and have no problems with the DTR/RTS TX/RX switching, I have a home made interface and it works great with the FT-840.

How can I apply the same sort of TX/RX switching to ROS, presently I'm using the rig's PTT which is certainly neither confortable nor the best thing to use.

    Replies will be most welcome.

    73,

    Jimmy.

    Default Hola

    Jimmy.
