    Default What is this?

Hi there, I'm not actually an amateur operator but I was using somebody's radio scanner today and I came across some strange noises at 153.022MHz. It was very strong (the scanner has a ~20dB attenuator which I was using) and I have actually picked it up at two locations in the UK (was strong in both). It's continuous and I have no clue as to what it is / where it comes from.

Could anybody tell me what it is?
Also, I couldn't get the attachment manager to work with an MP3 file, so I uploaded a recording here:

    Thanks.

You'll find that is POCSAG aka pagers transmitting data.

    Ah, okay.
Why was that so hard to find elsewhere? :-(
