I took my Foundation at the end of last year, and am now studying for my intermediate. I'll probably start studying for the full during the summer then take the course at the end of the year.

Good luck with the Intermediate Steve, have you got a copy of the Exam Secrets book from the RSGB I found that helped along with http://www.hamtests.co.uk

Not much, just the 'no-code' licence is the CEPT Class 2 (identifiable by the 3 letter suffix, ending in 'B'), and the 'code' licence which is the CEPT Class 1 (identifiable by the 1/2 letter suffix). Also, there's no real difference in operating permissions...

I keep thinking I need to get a Marine Band Licence as I listen to the marine band a lot & for what it takes & costs to get, I may as well do it & be legal when listening.

Well the test is at 5WPM minimum, but I hope to manage somewhere in the 15-18WPM range

im a newbie and im hoping to start my foundation course in September, i cant find any training courses before then in my area

Anyway i was wondering in the UK is there any courses you can take after the advanced full license?? I was wondering this because the advanced means we can go upto a power of 400 watts but ive seen amplifiers for sale which are like upto 1.5kw. If your only licensed to goto 400watts then there must be something more you can get to legally goto the 1.5kw this amplifier is for.

Someone clarify because i havnt got a clue.

Stewmath in the UK Advanced/Full Licence is the 3rd and final licence.

Yes, companies sell 1.5Kw amps, but these would either have to be used upto 400w or exported to other countries where these powers are legal (like the US for example).

West Yorks..Thing is I don't get back into Halifax until 28th September and I only have 3 weeks there before I'm off again....Any offers anyone!!!

Just updating this thread. I took my Intermediate Exam last year and Advanced in April. Waiting for the result was awful, letter arrived Thursday, passed! I'm now M0SVB. It will be strange not always studying with an exam in mind. My next target will be learning cw.
