I'm more of a chaser than the chased as far as SOTA ... I'll hazzard a guess you're in prime SOTA country, I'm in 1 point country  I really should do some chasing on the lower HF bands, for those exotic multi point mountains.
Credit to you for even thinking SOTA at this time of the year
http://www.andybright.com/m6bbc.html A bit silly but it whiled away a hot Sunday afternoon.

Hi there, Well, at the moment im working in Germany but still i do get to go home lots. are my assumptions right to say i still cant transmit abroad even when on an event???. As a rule i go walking in N/Wales but to tell you the truth iv been every ware, so what's a chaser then?. Back on track, i think im going to by the Yaesu vx-8r, seems to be a winner when it comes to hand helds.
Well must get back to work, all the best. John

Yep, you are certainly correct. But if I were working in DL land for any length of time and only had a foundation or intermediate licence, I would make enquiries with the German authorities, maybe DARC, regarding special provision from the German regulatory body to operate... it's not totally unprecedented for an FL or IL to get permission to operate overseas.

With SOTA, you get those who go up the hills and activate the summit, and you get those who work them (chasers)... it's a bit like a contest, you get points, there's league tables.

    cheers,
    Andy
