Thread: power block

    Default power block

What do you all think of my plan for a home brew power distribution block? This is would be made from wood, or better yet, cut from a Teflon block and 2 ground bars.

Does't look very safe to me. I'd like to see better separation between the two bars and the whole thing insulated to prevent something conducting being dropped on top.

I have in the past, built a wooden stand for my power supply which has fuses, switches (lights) and sockets inside it.
A few of those connectors you have indicated on the front for good measure, but a couple of sets of banana sockets are most useful.

Having switches is OK for receivers etc, but my next incarnation will have some nice 16A relays inside it too (and a nice big solid-state one for my HF set).

Nooooo!! Lol Ok, I would put fuses on both those cables and have the "bars" inside a metal box which is grounded (shielded).

I've never found the need for these things cos I have a PSU with binding posts, its also got sprung loaded terminals for accepting nanar plugs and the like. I recokon it would be better to wire directly to the PSU. You might easily draw a lot of current down those two cables.

    Good luck!
