I have recently bought the Alinco DJ-V17 handheld transceiver and am having difficulty getting the cloning software to work - has anyone else had similar problems and if so how did you get round them?
I have downloaded the free DJ-V17/S17 Clone Utility and acquired the interface cable to allow me to connect to the serial port (COM1) on my personal computer. I even realised, even though it is not made clear anywhere, that I needed a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack plug converter to allow me to plug the interface cable into the mic port of the EDS-10 cable supplied with the handheld.
With everything connected I put the handheld into CLONE mode by pressing the PTT key three times while holding in the MONI key. Then fired up the clone software. As soon as I try and read/write I get a "communication error" message appearing on the computer and an RD0E00 (or similar) code appearing on the LCD screen of the handheld.
As far as I can tell I have all the right cables and connectors with everything connected properly.
I also have an Icom IC-R5 handheld scanner and a Yaesu FT7800 both of which I have successfully managed to connect and programme through the computer using the relevant software.
I thought that programming the Alinco via the software would be easier than trying to work out how to do it all manually.
