    Default TS450S

I have a friend that has a TS450S with a tuning problem. It will only tune 10 KCS and then reverts back to the starting frequency. You can direct enter the freq from the keypad and as long as you turn the tuning knob clockwise it works OK. The second you turn it counter clockwise it jumps back to the previously used (band). Any ideas?

Without actually having that rig in front of me this would only be speculation, but in my experience with Kenwood xcvrs I have often been nearly stumped by NAND gates that occasional get stuck. Best to track them down an replace them but you may try to remove the memory backup battery and let it sit a day or 2. I actually repaired one of my own 2m units like that and have suggested it to several customers which I only got a response from a few that said thanks.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just saw this...

It sounds like a logic problem more than an optical counter problem.

Might be worth checking for the old "pinched wires" syndrome if it's been taken apart.

P.S. the 450 is the BEST rig I have ever used...
